Restriction digests of the clone give the following sizes (kb): EcoRI/SalI--3.9, 3.3, 2.8, 2.3, 1.5, 1.4, 1.0; XhoI--14, 7.8; XbaI--21.7; XbaI/AvaI--7.0, 3.5, 3.2, 2.3, 1.5, 1.4, + others; BamHI--11.0, 4.3, 3.5, 2.3. The insert includes a 1.89 kb open reading frame encoding a 74 kDa basic protein essential for an early step in splicing the cytochrome b pre-mRNA. The probe, pG36/T1, has been deposited in Escherichia coli RR1 as ATCC 37662 and in Saccharomyces cerevisiae B237/L2 as ATCC 66318. |
